When the Volkswagen Atlas was introduced in 2018, it represented a departure from the status quo for how the automaker designed and built crossover SUVs. The biggest change VW made to the 2021 Atlas was to the vehicle’s exterior that now features refreshed front and rear bumpers that have added three inches to the vehicle's overall length as well as the automaker’s new three-bar grille design. Buyers will also be able to have the Volkswagen 4Motion® attached to models of the 2021 Atlas that use either available engine platform.

Performance Specs

Volkswagen is still using the same two powertrain options in the 2021 Atlas. Base models will employ a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission. These versions will make 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter, V-6 engine is also available that uses the same gear-changer. It will make 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.

Available Technology

Naturally, a smartphone-compatible infotainment system is going to be standard equipment in the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas offering access to Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The 2021 Atlas also makes a Wi-Fi hotspot available on all trim grades. Additionally, the 2021 Atlas makes several active safety systems available including forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and rear traffic alert.
