Passenger and cargo space have always been strengths for the Atlas. The 2020 model continues this tradition by offering three rows of seating that can accommodate as many as seven passengers. Owners will have plenty of cargo volume regardless of how many people are riding in the 2020 Atlas. When the vehicle is at maximum passenger capacity, there will be 20.6 cubic-feet behind the third row. Folding the rearmost seats away will open the vehicle up to 55.5 cubic-feet, and when properly configured, the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas can have a maximum of 96.8 cubic-feet of cargo volume. Additionally, a 2020 VW Atlas with the base engine can tow 2,000 and models with the V-6 will have a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.
Team Gunther VW customers will be able to choose between a pair of powertrain options with the 2020 Atlas. The base equipment consists of a turbocharged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, making 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A 3.6-liter, V-6 engine with a maximum output of 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque is also available. Both engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission.
