2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack Pensacola FL
When it comes to versatility in the Volkswagen lineup, no vehicles have been able to perform quite as well as the Golf SportWagen, which, as the name suggests, is a wagon. The long body of the hatchback helps to accommodate a mix of cargo and passengers, and though it was pretty close to perfect before, there was just one thing that SportWagen enthusiasts continued to clamor for: a performance to match the rest of wagon’s versatile characteristics. Well, Volkswagen delivered. Introducing the Golf Alltrack.
Though it sheds the SportWagen moniker, the Golf Alltrack is still a SportWagen. What separates the two is a revolutionary 4Motion all-wheel drive system that gives the Golf Alltrack a significant edge over its two-wheel-drive inspiration. Off road is the name of the Alltrack’s game, and in addition to the AWD system, there are a number of other features that help the sporty wagon perform on various terrains.

Off-Road Features of the 2017 VW Golf Alltrack
If you’re here on this page, there’s a chance that you’re familiar with the SportWagen and all that it can do. For that reason, we’ll start by highlighting the features that are unique to the Golf Alltrack. We have already touched on the all-wheel drive system, but as we said, 4Motion AWD is just the beginning.
Adding to the off-road abilities of the Golf Alltrack is an “Off-Road Mode” that adds hill descent control and that puts the traction control system into high gear, helping the wagon to traverse even the most treacherous of terrains. Furthering its abilities is an added inch of ground clearance that makes it possible for the AWD Golf to power through the unknown without worries of scuffing up the exterior or the components underneath. To give it a bulkier, off-road look, the outside gets extra body cladding.
In just about every other area, the Golf Alltrack is identical to the SportWagen. It gets the same 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that shells out 170 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque when operating at its peak. The big difference is that with the all-wheel drive system in place, 50 percent of that torque can be shipped to the rear set of wheels, helping to keep the Alltrack cruising steadily—even when one or more of the wheels have little to no traction. When the road is smooth, the Alltrack operates as a two-wheel drive vehicle, helping to conserve fuel. The moment any wheel slip is detected, AWD roars into action.
To learn more about the 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, we encourage you to make the trip to Daphne from Mobile, Pensacola, or wherever you happen to be located. Our team can help to get you behind the wheel of one of these beautiful, all-wheel drive wagons. We look forward to meeting with you.
