What is new for the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Ever since we started to let people know that the latest Volkswagen Tiguan was going to arriving at the Team Gunther VW showroom very soon, we’ve had several people contact us wondering what is new for the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan. Our manufacturing partner has stopped short of completely redesigning the Tiguan for 2022, but that isn’t to say the automaker hasn’t made some major changes that will get people very excited to see the refreshed VW crossover SUV. A majority of the aesthetic changes made to the 2022 Tiguan will center on the front end of the vehicle as well as new available exterior colors and wheel designs. Let’s take a closer look at some of the new equipment we can expect the 2022 VW Tiguan to offer.

2022 VW Tiguan Performance Specs

There are still a few outstanding details to be learned about the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan. We do know that it will be powered by the same engine and transmission combination that has appeared in previous models. The 2022 VW Tiguan will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine under the hood that will make 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. All four 2022 Tiguan trim grades will also employ an eight-speed automatic transmission. It seems entirely likely that the 2022 version of the Tiguan will have the same fuel economy scores as the 2021 model, but we will have to wait and see what happens when that particular information is released closer to the vehicle’s official launch date.

New Technology Equipment

Advanced technology is really the biggest change being made to the 2022 Tiguan. All models will be equipped with the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit and Car-Net®. The trims above the base version will be equipped with wireless phone charging, wireless connectivity to smartphone applications, Climatonic® Touch and the new I.Q.DRIVE® suite of active driver assistance systems. The I.Q.DRIVE® suite contains familiar features like forward-collision warning and blind-spot monitoring. However, it will also feature some new systems like Travel Assist and Emergency Assist.
