Is Volkswagen really going to change its name ‘Voltswagen?’

It is pretty common for companies to change their logos as the years roll on to keep them fresh and modern. However, it is pretty rare for a major corporation to make a wholesale change to the name that has been with customers for generations. So, is Volkswagen really going to change its name to ‘Voltswagen?’ In short? No, the name is changing. The global automaker made a big splash on social media with a playful announcement that a name change was coming to reflect the manufacturer’s commitment to electric vehicles. Charitably, one could say the online reaction was mixed. Volkswagen released statements confirming the change then quickly backtracking to say that it was all an early April Fool’s Day joke. For every Team Gunther VW staffer that liked the potential change, there were more that were skeptical it would really happen. VW wants to introduce several electric vehicles over the next few years, with the end-goal in mind of having its entire fleet of consumer vehicles be hybrids. Certainly, that is very ambitious but simply designing new vehicles and building them aren’t the only challenges.
